6) The Deal! Tickets are $50 for the first 600 tickets. We signed the Castle Contract, and so we are held to a maximum of 800 persons. Between Randy and Ken and I that is about 8,000 persons who can buy tickets, and that doesn't include their friends..

The Contract states a steep increase after 600 persons.. We sold 600 within the first week of October last year and we had half as many members!...After 600 tickets are sold due to the price increase to hold down the size, the Price is $70!

We begin the early evening at a Gay Dive Bar in Hollywood. This seedy little bar is the home of a great jukebox, cheap beer, and some very gay barflys. I didn't think gay barflys existed until I visited this hole in the wall..

Every Dive Bar excursion is rated from a level 1 A-Ticket (Exotic),a level 2 C-Ticket (Peculiar), to a level 3 E-Ticket (Deviant).This is an E-Ticket Dive Bar Adventure, it is a Deviant Tour underground through the bowels of Los Angeles via the Metro Red Line

1) Legend:
Mister Blinky and his team of merry Safari Barfly hosts will take you from the hills of Hollywood to the downtown dives of the City of Fallen Angels. These are some of LA's wildest dives and coolest lounge scenes. We are taking the Metro Redline and Purple Line. It is the holidays so some bars may close early unexpectedly. We have taken every precaution to prevent any problems. But this is a "Recon" so despite checking with these bars in advance, (WE HAVE CHECKED~!~!) its a Holiday Weekend, so be prepared to stay close if we have to switch or skip a stop, due to weather, Metro, or sudden private parties blocking our way...

Dive Bar Legend:
ETB= Estimated Time of Boozing
DFX= Dive Factor Analysis 1=Barely Legal / Possibly Unsafe, 2=Dicey&Stinky, 3=Alternative Cool Vibes, 4=unfound Hipness, 5=Family Safe

Wear comfortable shoes! Sneakers or rubber soles a must.
Elf shoes, fuzzy antlers, Glowy noses, Red Furry Hats all welcome

3) Stops and Bars
A) Uwink Staging Area (Hollywood Highland Mall 4th Floor) 5:30 to 6:30pm ETB: 60min DFX=5
In the Hollywood Highland Mall is an Upscale and Clean Bar Uwink it is on the fourth floor. Look for Mister Blinky here. He will have your glowy arm band, jingle bell necklace and other holiday treats.
(If you don't start here Good Luck on your own... Subways have no Cell Service)

B) Powerhouse Dive Bar 6:45-7:30pm ETB 40 min, DFX=2.78 (If Open otherwise REDLINE)
This venerable old dive has cheap PBR. The dicey and freaky peeps range from lost German tourists to rockabilly street actors, to the stray super hero. We leave Powerhouse to go Jump onto the Red Line at the Highland Station.

Get your Day Pass of $5 We go to the end of the Line on the Red Line

C) Traxx Bar Union Station ETB 40 min, DFX=4.13
We enter Union Station. We explore the amazing architecture of the 1925 and is listed on the National Register of Historical Monuments. The art deco Traxx bar closes early, so we hit this bar first and hop scotch our way back to Hollywood throughout the night.

North on Redline to Purple Line

D) Brass Monkey ETB 40 min, DFX=4.13
Dive Bar and Karaoke haven. This Monkey gets crazy every weekend. This Dive Bar meets The Regal Beagle TV set is just a 3 minute skip from the subway doors. We sing a song and dance a jig and remember to drink here cause there is a two drink minimum.. Just keep a drink in your hand.

E) The Prince Cafe ETB 40 min, DFX=3.37
This k-Town favorite is alive and well. The old castle feel and oversized booths welcome the tired Dive Bar Adventurer. Hidden in an old apartment building, the Prince is one of Korea Town's hidden gems. Its like walking into a Speakeasy run by nice waitresses.

Back to Redline

F) La Cita / Bar 107 ETB 60 min DFX=2.88
The Derby Dolls are taking over the back patio. The Mariachis are in the house. This Punk-billy-Reggae-Latino hipster hangout could be out of control. So if we can't get in through to the back or side entrance, we will head to the greatest little dive you may never heard of Bar 107. Bar 107 is TGIF meets Smog Cutter...

G) Check our Watches? Either we head back to 7 and 7 Grand or back to Hollywood to either Relax Bar or Tiny's KO. Seven is a cool upscale bar and 7 Grand is Whiskey bar / hunting lodge. If time permits... If the trains are running slow, then we head back to Hollywood and hit Relax Bar or Tiny's both true dives.

Mister Blinky's alter ego Chris Kaufman stayed there the night and took a shower.. Here is the video of that night in the Hollywood Hills Castle:

You might have noticed, that the Shocking Ghosts take over the camera and wander around the Castle!!! Mister Blinky has enlisted a couple of other night life raconteurs to fill out the castle.. Sir Kenway and Racy Randy will be bringing another few hundred guests....

Welcome to the Dive Bar Adventure Inc. Blog. Dive Bar Adventures is a social group where the participants enjoy a wild ride as they travel together to find exotic, peculiar, and deviant bar and lounge scenes around the entire Los Angeles area.

Dive Bar Adventures has three levels of Bar adventures. Level One or A-Ticket ride is a trip to an exotic bar. This is a "Family Friendly" bar. Generally containing a unique theme, it does not require any special equipment or gear or costume.

Level Two or C-Ticket ride is a trip to a "Peculiar" Bar or Lounge. These rides require you pass through at least one Level One ride and been screened by one or more of our Chief Safari Barfly organizers. These bars are not only exotic but also contain alternative lifestyle patrons. Caution and respect to the local inhabitants is required. C-Ticket excursions may require special gear / costumes to enable Dive Bar Adventure participants to mingle freely with the lounge regulars.

Level Three or E-Ticket ride is a trip to a "Deviant" Bar or Lounge. These rides require you have passed through at least one Level Two ride and screening. These E-Ticket rides are visits to Bars or Lounge scenes where simulated explicit acts and adult situations require that all members respect not only the Bar regulars but also the safety of the group. These trips will be undisclosed to everyone except the members who RSVP "YES"...
